Dr. Stewart Carrington
Dr. Carrington graduated with an M.D. degree from L.S.U. School of Medicine, New Orleans. He did his internship and family practice for 7 years in Benton, Louisiana. Subsequently he completed a three year fellow-ship in dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He currently has a practice in Salmon.
He began his woodworking endeavors more than 40 years ago and “at the ripe old age of 82” he loves doing it as much if not more than when he first started. He said as a youngster he always had fun making “things”.
After he completed his medical training, he had the privilege of being mentored by Roy Blake of Mobile, Alabama. He was allowed to observe, assist and learn from the master premier woodworker of Alabama. “He was generous, kind, patient, and wise enough to teach me many things, not the least of which was a reverence for wood and the beauty it gives us, one of nature’s finest gifts to man. What you may see at the Purple Easel is a testament to him more than to my ability”
